This course is for anyone interested in intentional, meditative movement. Qigong is a practice of wholeness and interconnectedness, where focused awareness and gentle movement work together to cultivate and direct life-force energy, known as Qi.

An ancient health practice rooted in Chinese philosophy and medicine, Qigong combines slow, mindful movement, breathwork, and intention. Through regular practice, we learn how movement and awareness can support physical health, emotional balance, and mental clarity.

In Qigong, the aim is to cultivate harmony between Yin and Yang—the complementary forces that exist within all aspects of life. Rather than opposites, Yin and Yang are dynamic qualities that continuously transform into one another. In practice, we explore strength with softness, effort with ease, and receptivity with alertness. The principle of effortless action does not mean passivity, but learning to move without unnecessary tension or struggle.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, Qi flows through a network of meridians in the body. Qigong is designed to encourage this flow, helping to release stagnation and support the body's natural capacity for balance and vitality.

Throughout history, Qigong has been practiced for many different purposes. Martial artists have used it to develop inner strength, focus, balance, patience, and resilience. Daoist and Buddhist practitioners have used it as a path toward deeper awareness and connection. Within traditional Chinese medicine, Qigong is valued as a practice for maintaining health, preventing illness, and supporting overall wellbeing.

This course is for you if you:

  • Are curious about exploring a mindful movement practice beyond yoga and dance

  • Wish to cultivate greater calm, presence, and inner balance

  • Want to reconnect with your body through gentle movement, breath, and awareness

  • Enjoy practices that support relaxation, vitality, and overall wellbeing

  • Find seated meditation challenging and are looking for a more embodied approach

  • Would like to create more ease, resilience, and balance in everyday life

Many people find Qigong helpful in managing stress, anxiety, fatigue, inflammation, digestive issues, rheumatism, chronic fatigue, cancer-related fatigue, and other conditions that affect energy levels and quality of life. However, no health concerns are required to benefit from the practice. Qigong is for anyone seeking greater wellbeing, vitality, and inner calm.

What we will explore

In this series, we will work with the Five Elements of traditional Chinese medicine: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.

Each session will explore movements connected to one of the elements. We will first learn and refine the individual movements before allowing them to unfold more freely in flowing sequences. Classes will also include breathing practices and meditation, creating a complete and balanced experience.

By the end of the course, you will have a foundation of Qigong practices that you can continue to explore and integrate into your daily life.

Limited to 14 participants.
