At The Yoga Flat, we believe that everyone should be able to reap the benefits of having a yoga practice. The body of a pregnant woman and of the new mother is transforming. Pre- and postnatal courses can support this process and give you a space where taking care of your body and caring for your child goes together.

Mathilde’s teaching is suited for women in all stages of pregnancy, with an overall focus on creating a connection between breath, movement, body and mind. All of this is with the aim to create more enjoyment in your pregnancy, and support you in your birth preparation, and connect with your baby.

To be pregnant does not in any way mean you should stop practicing yoga, and it is generally a great idea to practice, with modifications, to support the body through the process of a pregnancy. To carry and create a child is one of the most amazing and wonderful things, yet a demanding process for the body. To there for practice a type of yoga, specifically designed around this process can be a great support for women who are expecting.
Pregnancy is a magical period in life where you go through both physical and emotional changes. Prenatal yoga addresses challenges inherent to pregnancy, such as a shift in center of gravity and potential lower back pains. This course is about building strength, stability and support for making your pregnancy a calm experience. It is meant as a way to help you make it easier to enjoy your pregnancy and prepare you for birth.
The classes will mainly cover physical yoga and focus on poses you can use during your pregnancy. We will see the role breath can play and try different breathing exercises. We will also spend time on meditation, deep relaxation and the mental aspect of pregnancy and birth.
Post-natal yoga is about being a mother, a woman and a yogi.
At each class we move in and out of yoga-poses with respect for your body as it is slowly transforming from being pregnant to being a mother.
We connect with the breath and our bodies and do stretches that are good for sore shoulders, neck and back. We practice moving with flow and pause when the babies needs the attention.
And most importantly we have fun.
Post-natal yoga is for you 6 weeks after you have given birth and until your baby is 8 months.
You bring yourself, your baby and what you need and we meet on the yoga mat.
You can park your baby stroller on the sidewalk in front of the studio or in the park behind the studio.
